Development was focused on aspects of usability, dictionary search and integration of character component data. Usability enhancements include a rubber tool and an additional calligraphy pen style for writing, a clock display in new words drill, word counters on the left and right buttons in word lists, better saving of program settings and several other tiny improvements. It is now possible to do reverse lookups on fields of your custom dictionary entries and to choose from several keyboard layouts, including Japanese Kana. Newly added images from the Wikimedia Commons Stroke Order Project have been integrated and I hope to add a settings menu soon, that allows to customize priority and optional fallbacks between PRC, traditional and Japanese writing styles. Finally character component data from the cjklib project have been integrated into Chinese Touch. It is not complete and might have some errors, but you now can lookup individual components of many characters and their meaning, which can be very helpful when memorizing complex characters. Please also have a look at the revised user manual, which includes examples on how to use some of the most important features.
Feel free to leave a comment or send me an email, with your thoughts about the program, Chinese or language learning in general, including but not limited to bug reports and feature requests.

Hi…
please, I need help!
the software”Chinese Touch” on my Nintendo DS (with R4 module) doesn’t
work.
I have also tried on a pc (windows XP) with software nds emulator “Resume”.
The result doesn’t change.
This is the error visualized by the “Resume”.
what do you think?
thanks, hi
Chinese Touch on my DSLite with R4 doesn’t work. It says that my card loader doesn’t support ARGV, and chinese font ukai cannot be loaded.
Why? Please help… I need it for my studies at university.
Aiko: Even if your R4 does not support ARGV, chinese-touch should run, if it is located in the directory “chinese-touch” on the root of your memory card. If it still cannot load the font and other files from that location, then your kernel might not even support auto-dldi-patching. That might be possible for very old R4 cards. Not sure. Try to google for keywords like R4 kernel download. If you can find a newer kernel than the one you have installed, that might help.
Thanks to your suggestion I fixed the problem. I thank you very much. I’m now using Chinese Touch as a simple dictionary from pinyin to hanzi and english meaning, but what I need for real is a way to find characters’ meaning by simply writing them, without knowing is pronunciation. There is something like that for japanese language, it is called Kanji Sonomama and it saved me with my advanced studies of japanese; I need something similar, for my chinese studies. I suggest you to include this very useful tool into your next version of Chinese Touch, I will sure stay up to date.
